Valley Caravan's owner is also a board member for Women for Afghan Women and director of Afghan Women's Fund, an organization that is dedicated to empowering women in Afghanistan. Currently based in Annapolis, Maryland, she travels to her native country regularly to continue her work for the empowerment of women to find ways to support their families and the thousands of fatherless children. Her business, Valley Caravan Gallery, supports her projects.
The AWF is a grassroots organization with a mission to assist women in Afghanistan by improving conditions and opportunities for themselves and their families through education, vocational training, and health programs. AWF'S sponsor is Women for Afghan Women, a 501(c) 3 organization headquartered in Flushing, New York.
We opened 13 literacy classes in Kabul (Kamari) and Parwan (Saray and Mir Bacha Kot). In Logar, we continued to support 28 orphans (their pictures are on the website, sponsors needed) including donating blankets. We also opened 4 computer classes and 3 sewing classes for women there. In Ghazni province we took warm clothes to an orphanage as the winter is very harsh there and they were in great need.
My goal for this year is to build 5 more girls' schools in Logar and Laghman provinces. I know it sounds like a big project but with your help and support we'll be able to accomplish this goal. I want to thank you all for your continued support.
